Top down drone shot of the Creu du Van

Top downs, Drone photography

When I was a kid and had the chance to travel by airplane with my parents, I always wanted to have the window seat to watch outside and see the houses get small, see the cars like little toys. I must admit that I still enjoy it very much. But now I leave the window seat for my kind and take the aisle to be able to stretch my long legs.

But with the development of personal drones equipped with top photography gear, you can easily achieve the same feeling but with your feet on the ground. It’s even a better experience to take off the little drone and hope to discover great topics to capture.

Top downs are a specific category of drone photography. I love landscapes but when the lens looks downwards, I’m looking for shapes, lines, textures and contrasting colors. Sometimes abstract art can be achieved when combined with architecture photography.
